| 2nd international Conference on
Bio-Medical Informatics and Signal Processing at SSN College
of Engineering |

Chennai, March 13, 2008: Sri
Sivasubramania Nadar (SSN) College of Engineering in
association with Sai BioSciences Research Institute Pvt.
Ltd., and UMDNJ (University of Medicine & Dentistry of New
Jersey, USA inaugurated the 2nd international conference on
Bio-Medical Informatics and signal processing, today.
Thiru P.W.C.Davidar, I.A.S, IT Secretary Govt of TN,
Dr.G.Ravindran President, Biomedical Engineering Society of
India Chairman, Faculty of Information and Communication
Engineering (ICE), Anna University, Chennai inaugurated the
conference by releasing conference souvenir along with Dr
Salivahanan, Principal SSNCE and IEEE Madras Section
Chairman and Dr. N Sriraam, Program Chair Professor, Head of
the Department - Biomedical Engineering Department, SSN
College of Engineering.
The two-day conference on the theme "Healthcare for the 21st
century" will have renowned national and international
experts from the healthcare industry speaking on topics such
as BioMedical informatics & image processing, data signal
processing, advancement in biomedical engineering, clinical
data Management, women in Bio Medical Engineering etc.
Speaking during the inaugural function, Dr.G.Ravindran,
President, Biomedical Engineering Society of India, Chairman
ICE, Anna University -Chennai said, that Biomedical field
has its special value that the healthcare industry as well
as research academia are looking for potential candidates.
Dr Sayed Haque and Dr Dinesh Mital, Chairs, Health
Informatics UMDNJ gave the opening ceremony address.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Sriram, Program Chair,
Professor, Head of the Department - Biomedical Engineering
Department, SSN College of Engineering, said "The conference
provides a unique opportunity to get exposure on latest
trends, tools and technologies in the biomedical informatics
field. It also aims at creating synergy and supporting
interdisciplinary research, development, and
commercialization of biomedical informatics applications and
tools, which will immensely benefit the healthcare service
industries".
More than 300 participants including Industry leaders,
practitioners, scientists, academicians, executives, and
students from the field of medical, healthcare,
pharmaceutical, biotechnology, bioinformatics, biological,
computer science, IT, bio medical engineering and
communication will be attending the conference. Ms Malathi,
Organizing secretary gave the vote of thanks. |
