The Biomedical Department of the college has cordial relations with various organizations such as L&T Medical Systems, BPL, Texas Instruments and educational institutions such as The Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, Ramachandra Medical University and The Sai Biosciences Research Institute. The department also has tie-ups with institutes and industries alike, with Memorandum of Understanding being signed with Phoenix Medical System, Sai Bioscience Research Institute, Bharat scans, Florida International University and Sri Ramachandra Medical University and Research Institute to facilitate academic cooperation between the university and the department.
The Students are also motivated and guided to do research work in their field of interest and are provided with all the technical materials and resources needed to carry out their research. The Department has active involvement from the students in various research initiatives such as Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring using Cardiotocogram, Early Stroke detection using MRI Imaging, Speech Processing, Kidney Dialysis and Brain Computer Interfacing. All the above projects are carried out in association with Ramachandra Medical University and Phoenix Medical System.
IEEE-A flagship Organization which caters to the scientific community has various societies and chapters spread throughout the world, but with very few students’ chapters. The department has started a student’s chapter of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE EMBS). A few of other academic accolades include scholarships from the Government of Japan and a scholarship from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) given by the Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology. Our Students have given Paper presentations in the International Arena, with publications in International Journals.
The Students are Multi -faceted, having not only an outstanding track record in Academics, but also having a long list of enviable accolades in extra –curricular activities. Students are showing equal prowess in all fields ranging from Sprinting on the field to singing on the stage.
We have among our Students established Badminton, Squash and Basketball players at the State and National Level. On the entertainment front, Singers and instrumentalists have won various cultural events personally as well as for the college in inter-collegiate cultural fests. They have given various professional Performances.
