Year 2011:
• Dr. R. S. Milton has received approval for guiding Ph.D Scholars from Anna University of Technology.
• Professor. Kaliappa Ravindran from City State New York gave a talk on " SOA for managed QoS assurance in distributed networked systems" for the faculty members and M.E students. He also interacted with the II year M.E students who are currently pursuing their projects in the area of SOA and Cloud computing and shared his valuable insights with them.
• Ms.J.Bhuvana and Dr.C.Aravindan published a paper titled,'Design of a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm with preferential local search for Multiobjective Optimization Algorithms',in Springer LNCS-CCIS Digital Library. Ms.J.Bhuvana has presented the same in International Conference on AIM 2011 at Nagpur and received gold medal for the best paper.
• Ms.R.Rajalakshmi and Dr.C.Aravindan published a paper titled,'Naive Bayes Approach for Website Classification',in Springer LNCS-CCIS Digital Library. Ms.R.Rajalakshmi presented the same in International Conference on Advances in Information Technology and Mobile Communication(AIM 2011) at Nagpur during 21-22, April 2011
• A research paper titled " Design and Development of a Multitenent Data Analytical Application as a Service" and authored by Sangeetha Shanmugasundaram, M.E Student and Dr. Chitra Babu was published in the Proceedings of International Conference on Emerging Technology Trends in Cloud Computing (ICETT) 2011. Ms. Sangeetha presented the paper in the conference on 25th March and it has been chosen as the second best paper and was given a cash award of Rs. 10, 000
• A research paper titled " Exploitation of Unused PCs to Establish an Optimized Cloud Storage" and authored by Y. V. Lokeshwari, M.E Student, Ms. B. Prabavathy and Dr. Chitra Babu was published in the Proceedings of International Conference on Emerging Technology Trends in Cloud Computing (ICETT)2011. Ms. Lokeshwari presented the paper in the conference on 25th March.
• A research paper titled " Tx-Policy: Transactional Policies for Reliable Web Service Composition" authored by Ms. R.Kanchana, Mr. Arun, A. M.E Student, and Dr. Chitra Babu was published in the Proceedings of International Conference and workshop on Emerging Trends and Technology (ICWET 2011). Mr.A.Arun presented the paper in the conference on 25th Feb at Mumbai.
• Ms. M. Jayanthi and Ms. Vidhupriya, I year M.E students were given sponsorship from ACM Bangalore chapter to attend ACM Compute 2011 conference at Bangalore.
• Ms. Bavya Sivashree was chosen as the best outgoing student of the CSE department.
• One of the recently passed out students, Mr. Jason Bosco has been awarded assistantship at the University of California, Los Angeles for the M.S programme in Computer Science.
• Mr. T. Narendran of III year B.E participated in IBM Technical Contest on the design of AIRLINE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM held at IIT Kharagpur and won second prize. Ms.R.Kanchana and Mr.B.Senthil Kumar mentored this student for the contest.
• Ms. R. Kanchana, Ms. B.Prabavathi, Mr. B. Senthil Kumar, and Ms. K. Valli Devi organized a three day workshop on "Ruby on Rails and Shoulda" during 17-19 Feb, 2011 for III year BE and I year ME students of CSE department. 38 students and 4 faculty members participated in the workshop which included hands-on training.
• A special lecture on "An Introduction to Software Testing, Tools and Techniques" was delivered by Dr. E.S.F. Najumudheen, Research Consultant, IIT-Kharagpur on 22 Feb, 2011 for First year M.E.(CSE) Students
• A guest lecture on "Challenges in Web Technology" was delivered by Mr. Ajay S Sharma of Srishti Software, Bangalore on 19.01.2011 for III year CSE students.
• Ms. B. Bharathi presented two papers titled "Speaker identification using utterances correspond to speaker-specific-text " and "Reducing the complexity of a triphone- based speech recognition system based on degree of coarticulation" in IEEE Technical symposium at IIT Khargpur, during Jan 14 - 16, 2011
Year 2010:
• Mr. S. Senthil Velan presented a paper in the form of extended abstract titled "Measuring the Impact of Inheritance in AOSD" in the National Level Workshop ASPIRE 2010 at College of Engineering, JNTU Ananthapur during 22-23, Dec 2010. He also chaired a session titled "Metrics and Analytics" in the same workshop.
• Ms.S.V.Jansi Rani presented a paper in "Emerging trends in computing and communication" Conference at Indore, Madhya Pradesh during 19-20 Nov 2010.
• One of the recently passed out students, Mr. Jason Bosco has been awarded assistantship at the University of California, Los Angeles for the M.S programme in Computer Science.
• Ms.R.Rajalakshmi delivered a guest lecture on "Data Structures" for II Year CSE students of Velammal Engineering College, Chennai on October 4, 2010.
• Dr. Chitra Babu along with her research team conducted a one day seminar on "Cyber Security in SOA Governance" on October 1, 2010.
• Ms.V.S.Felix Enigo, Ms.S.Rajalakshmi, Ms.A.Beulah and Ms.G.Usha organized a National Workshop on "Advances in .Net Technologies" during 17-18 September 2010, which was convened by Dr.Chitra Babu, HOD, CSE. The programme was sponsored by IEEE Students Branch, SSNCE and ISTE. 37 Participants (faculty & students) from various engineering colleges attended the workshop. Mr. B.Senthil Kumar, Mr. K.R.Sarath Chandran developed web pages for this FDP.
• The Departmental Symposium of Association of Computer Engineers "PARADIGM 10" was organized on 3 September, 2010 under the guidance of HoD and Mr.G.Raghuraman, Mr.S.Senthilvelan.
• Mr. S. Senthil Velan and Ms. K. Vallidevi coordinated a Faculty Development Programme on "Software Architecture" convened by Dr. Chitra Babu, HOD, CSE during 26-27 August, 2010. 36 faculty members and 3 PG research students participated in the FDP.
• A special lecture on "Web 2.0 / 3.0" was delivered by Mr. Rajaram Venkatraman, Infosys, Chennai on 18.08.2010 for III year Students .
• A special lecture on "Ethical Hacking" was delivered by Mr. T.P.Saravanan, Infosys, Chennai on 17.08.2010 for Second Year CSE Students.
• A special lecture on "Cloud Computing" was delivered by Mr. Rajaram Venkatraman, Infosys, Chennai on 11.08.2010 for Final year CSE Students and ME students.
• On behalf of IEEE for Women in Computing student chapter, Dr.Chitra Babu and Ms.K.Vallidevi organized an "Introductory Programme on Computers" for our first year Rural Students during 3-5 August, 2010.
• A special lecture on "Advancing the Profession of Software Engineering" was delivered by Mr. Binoj Bhaskaran, Business Head, Mr. Srivatsan Krishnamoorthy, Technical Head, Purna Career Solution Pvt Ltd., Chennai on 02.08.2010 for Final year CSE Students.
• A special lecture on "Fundamentals of Super Computing" was delivered by Prof. Venkateswaran, Founder, WAran Research FoundaTion (WARFT), Chennai on 30.07.2010 for Second year CSE Students.
• A special lecture on "Image Processing & Hardware Accelerators" was delivered by Dr. Vijaykrishnan Narayanan, Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, USA on 23.07.2010 for Final year CSE Students and ME students.
• A special lecture on "Emerging Technologies and Opportunities" was delivered by Mr. Dorai Thodla, Founder, iMorph Inc., in USA and iMorph Innovation Center in India on 21.07.2010 for III CSE Students which was jointly organized by ISTE, IEEE student Chapter.
• On behalf of CSI student chapter of SSN, Ms A Chamundeswari along with Final year CSE students M. Ganesh kumar and K.Vinod kumar, organised "Managing server in LINUX operating system" seminar on 07.08.2010. Mr.C.Dilip Anand, Linux Consultant, Logica, Bangalore was the resource persons for this seminar. Another workshop on "Getting started with LINUX projects" was also organized on 20-21, August 2010. Red hat certificate Engineers, K.S Keerthi, M.Govindaraj, S.Karthik, P.S.Gokul, Final year CSE students were the resource persons for this workshop. These two events were fully sponsored by CSI.
• A special lecture on "Software Testing" was delivered by Mr. Karthik G, Infosys, Chennai on 20.08.2010 Friday at 10.00 AM in the CSE Seminar Hall for Final year CSE Students.
• AICTE has approved an Increase Intake for M.E CSE to 36 from existing 18.
• A project proposal submitted by Dr. Chitra Babu titled "Novel SOA Transaction Frameworks for e-Governance Applications" has been approved for internal funding after due evaluation by Standing Rsearch Committee.
• Ms. D. Thenmozhi has presented and published a paper titled "An Extended Cross Lingual Information Retrieval System for Agricultural Domain Using Statistical Document Translation for Tamil Farmers" in the International Conference "Tamil Internet Conference 2010" held at Coimbatore as part of World Classical Tamil Conference during 23-27, June 2010.
• Dr. Chitra Babu was a session Chair in the International Conference on Advances and Emerging Trends in Computing Technologies(ICAET),2010 conducted by SRM University.
• Dr. Chitra Babu was a resource person for the Faculty Development Programme on Component Based Technology conducted by K C G College of Technology. She delivered a lecture on "RMI and Enterprise Java Beans" on June 14, 2010.
• Ms. R. Kanchana presented a paper titled "Template based SOA framework for dynamic and adaptive composition of Web Services" in the International conference on Networking and Information Technology (ICNIT 2010), at Manila, Philippines during 11-13 June 2010.
• Mr. V. Balasubramanian delivered a Guest Lecture on "Theory of Computation", for II semester MCA students of SSNSoMCA on 6, 8, 13, 19 April 2010.
