SSN Institutions has highly qualified faculty members and many of them are active in research. They are constantly encouraged by the Management to initiate research and internal funding is made available. The faculty members are also encouraged to submit their proposals and get funding from outside agencies.

The departments of ECE, EEE, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry have been recognised as research centres by Anna University to do Ph.D. The Management has sanctioned TWENTY Junior Research Fellowships (Rs.10000/- per month) and FIVE Senior Fellowships (Rs15,000/- per month) to encourage research activities. Some of the research facilities are extended to the research scholars of other institutions also. International and National level conferences are periodically organized to bring together active researchers for deliberation and exchange of ideas.

SSN Institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Tsing Hua university, Taiwan for the exchange of academic staff, exchange of students for higher studies, exchange of academic course materials and research collaborations. A collaborative project on "Growth and Characterisation of Crystalline Materials" is undertaken jointly by Center for Crystal Growth, SSNCE and National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.
